Mel was so easy to work with. We had him out because we needed to figure out how to fix a roof leak where the flashing wasn't done right (and part of the siding was also not right). He did a thorough inspection and explained to me what issues he saw. His quote was similar to the other we got. We ended up having him put on a new roof, with a new under shingle ventilation system and a roof vent. He also corrected siding issues (and flashing), fixed some rotten trim, and repainted part of the siding and trim. Everything looks great! His crews were very nice. Of all the contractors we've worked with on various renovations, Mel was easily one of the best at quickly responding when we had a question or saw an issue we wanted handled differently. We'll definitely hire him again if we need roof or siding work!Posted on Google![]()

Mel and his team were extremely thorough in identifying and correcting a water leakage problem from the top of our deck into the enclosed sun room below. They were both professional and courteous and provided great follow up after the job was completed. I highly recommend MI Homesiding & Roofing for any problem that involves water leakage into your home. I will definitely use MI in the future.Posted on Google![]()

Highly recommend MI Homesiding! They completed a major home exterior project for us including replacing and painting our siding as well as replacing our roofing and gutters. They did an excellent job and we began getting compliments immediately from our neighbors about it! Mel was very communicative and proactive, listened to our questions and ideas, and took care of things in a timely manner. His team was always professional and the work is just superb! We not only recommend MI Homesiding, we will be using them again for future projects ourselves.Posted on Google![]()

I found MI Homesiding & Roofing through their YouTube channel and called with a few questions about siding. Even though I’m not located in Tennessee and wouldn’t be hiring them directly, they answered the phone right away and took the time to answer every question in detail. They provided specific, helpful information and even assisted me in finding a contractor in my area. It’s rare to find a company so willing to help someone who isn’t even a local customer. Awesome people, excellent service, and truly knowledgeable. Thank you so much!Posted on Google![]()

Alcoa has a housing mix that no other Blount County town shares.
Many homes were built during the aluminum plant era — solid mid-century houses with original wood siding, aging roofs, and 70s vinyl re-covers that hide decades of moisture damage underneath.
Newer Alcoa subdivisions near McGhee Tyson and along the Maryville border face a different problem — rushed installation across siding, roofing, gutters, and flashing that all start failing within a few wet seasons.
We handle the full exterior on both kinds of homes with one accountable team from start to finish — siding, roofing, gutters, windows, decks, and exterior painting.
For service-specific detail, see our Alcoa siding page and Alcoa roofing page.
We provide complete exterior contractor services across Alcoa and Blount County:
🏠 Siding — Vinyl, James Hardie, LP SmartSide, cedar, metal
🔨 Roofing — Shingle, metal, standing seam, repair, replacement
💧 Seamless Gutters — Installation, gutter guards, fascia repair
🪟 Windows — Replacement, repair, flashing details
🪵 Decks — Composite (Trex, Azek), cedar, replacement
🎨 Exterior Painting — Siding, trim, fence, deck, exterior doors
🛠️ Soffit & Fascia — Repair, replacement, ventilation
🌧️ Storm Damage — Documentation, takeoffs, insurance claims
The most common exterior issues we see across Alcoa:
Older mill-era homes: original wood siding under newer vinyl, rotted trim around windows and chimneys, aging roofs with worn flashing, and gutter systems that no longer match the roof line.
70s–90s neighborhoods: cracked vinyl panels, sagging gutters, soft fascia boards, and roof shingles past their lifespan.
Newer subdivisions near McGhee Tyson: improper installation across multiple trades — tight siding panels, missing flashing, poorly sloped gutters, and quick-flip roofing details.

| 💧 Gutters | Seamless Aluminum 5" and 6", Gutter Guards | Varies by material, exposure and maintenance |

Alcoa grew up around the aluminum plant, and a large share of its housing dates from that era. On those houses the gutter is hung on a wood fascia board, with a wood soffit tucked in behind it. Years of water spilling over a clogged or badly pitched gutter soak that fascia from the back, where nobody is looking.
So a gutter quote on a mill-era house is rarely only about gutters. If the fascia behind the old gutter has gone soft, new gutters hung on it will sag and pull away from the house, and the work gets paid for twice.
Any one of those is a reason to look at the fascia before pricing gutters, not after.
The old gutter comes down first and we look at the fascia and soffit behind it. If something is rotten, you get photographs and a written Change Order covering the repair before the new gutters go up — the fascia gets put right first, because it is the board the gutter hangs on. Our workmanship warranty on this work is 5 years; the materials carry their own manufacturer warranty, which is a separate thing.
Going deeper on each piece: gutter contractor, seamless gutter installation and how gutter size is decided, and soffit and fascia repair, including vented soffit and attic intake.

An Alcoa mailing address does not always mean the City of Alcoa issues your permit, and the two authorities are not currently working to the same code edition. That is worth knowing before anyone quotes you.
And a detail most homeowners never hear: neighboring Maryville adopted the 2024 International Residential Code effective 1 January 2026. Two Blount County cities a few minutes apart, two different residential code editions. Alcoa and Maryville are not interchangeable on this point, whatever a quote implies.
The city's own permit examples are new construction, demolition, deck installation and additions. It does not publish a roofing or siding rule, so whether your particular job needs a permit depends on your address and scope, and that call belongs to Codes rather than to a contractor. We tell you which authority you fall under and what we are submitting. Confirm your own project with that office before work starts.
Of everything we do on the outside of a house, a deck is the one the city spells out. The City of Alcoa’s Building and Codes Enforcement page gives these examples of work that needs a building permit:
“Do I need a Building Permit: New Construction; Demolition; Deck Installation; Addition; etc.”
Roofing and siding are not on that list. That is not the same as being exempt, which is why we ask Codes about your specific address and scope instead of quoting you a rule that may not apply.
For a deck it means the structure is what gets reviewed, not the surface: footings, post and beam sizing, joist spans, how the ledger is attached to the house, and guard and stair dimensions. Those come from the code edition the city has adopted, which is covered in the code section above. The decking boards you choose — treated lumber, composite, cedar — change the look and the maintenance, not the structural requirements.
Full detail on what the code requires and how a deck is priced is on our deck builder page, and the Alcoa version is deck installation in Alcoa.
A low quote for siding, roofing, or gutter work in Alcoa usually means cuts you cannot see.
Cheap installs skip flashing, ignore moisture barriers, use weak fastening, and rush from house to house without addressing the cause of failure.
Most of the exterior jobs we redo in Alcoa started as a low bid from another contractor who never fixed the underlying problem. Learn more on our improper installation repair page.

If hidden rot, damaged sheathing, framing issues, or moisture damage are discovered during the project, we stop and document the problem with photos.
We explain it clearly and provide a written Change Order before moving forward.
Hidden damage gets documented and priced, never covered over with new siding, roofing, or any other exterior finish.
Alcoa homes need an exterior contractor who understands both the older mill-era housing stock and the newer subdivisions near the airport.

This page covers everything we do on the exterior of a home in Alcoa, which is the right place to start when more than one trade is involved.
If the project is siding on its own — choosing between vinyl, fiber cement, engineered wood, cedar or steel, a repair, or a full replacement — our siding contractor in Alcoa page goes considerably deeper: material options, what the written estimate itemizes line by line, realistic timescales, and the difference between the manufacturer’s warranty and ours. For roofing specifically, see roofing in Alcoa.
Yes. We handle siding, roofing, gutters, windows, decks, and exterior painting with one accountable team. That avoids the coordination issues homeowners get when they hire separate contractors for each trade.
Yes. We have experience with the older mill-era homes around Alcoa. These houses often have hidden damage under newer layers — we inspect carefully and replace what is actually failing.
Yes. On-site estimates are free for standard projects across Alcoa. For complex inspections involving older homes or suspected hidden damage, we offer a $350 Technical Assessment that is credited back if you move forward with the project.
If we find rot, damaged sheathing, or moisture damage behind the existing exterior, we stop and document it with photos. We explain the scope and provide a written Change Order before continuing. Hidden damage gets documented and priced, not covered over.
Yes. We document hail and wind damage clearly, provide accurate material takeoffs, and work alongside your insurance adjuster on siding, roofing, and gutter claims.
Yes. Alcoa and Maryville share the same housing patterns and weather exposure. We work across both cities and the rest of Blount County.
The City of Alcoa lists deck installation among its examples of work that needs a building permit, so plan on one. Inside the city limits permits are issued by Alcoa’s own Planning and Codes Department at 223 Associates Boulevard, (865) 380-4730. If the address is outside the city limits, Blount County Development Services at 303 McGhee Street handles it instead. We confirm which office applies to your address before the estimate is final.
Yes, and on older Alcoa houses that is usually the right order. The fascia board behind the old gutter is what the new gutter hangs on. If it has gone soft we document it with photographs and put the repair in a written Change Order before the new gutters go up, rather than hanging them on a board that cannot hold them.

If your Alcoa home needs siding, roofing, gutters, windows, decks, or exterior painting, now is the time to act.
