I found MI Homesiding & Roofing through their YouTube channel and called with a few questions about siding. Even though I’m not located in Tennessee and wouldn’t be hiring them directly, they answered the phone right away and took the time to answer every question in detail. They provided specific, helpful information and even assisted me in finding a contractor in my area. It’s rare to find a company so willing to help someone who isn’t even a local customer. Awesome people, excellent service, and truly knowledgeable. Thank you so much!Posted on Google![]()

We are very happy with MI Homesiding's workmanship and dedication to achieve the best results for our Hardyboard residing. Mel answered our calls promptly; addressing and tending to any question we had. As with any home renovation, we ran into minor issues when we removed the siding the flashing was old and damaged. MI siding was more than happy to give us a fair estimate and replace the flashing to the siding. Porta-potty & dumpster were dropped off immediately prior to process, and removed with equal precision. Workers were diligent maintaining a safe & clean work area; cleaning remnant debris on last day. We recommended MI to our neighbors, and are having them back to caulk & paint. They did an excellent job at a fair price.Posted on Google![]()

MI Home Siding LLC did an excellent job on my home. Mel Hernandez and his crew worked on my siding, roofing, gutters, and exterior painting. They showed up on time, explained everything clearly, and completed the work as promised. The quality of the work was great, and they treated my home with care and respect. I really appreciated their honesty and communication throughout the project. I highly recommend MI Home Siding LLC to anyone looking for exterior work in Knoxville.”

We build and replace decks for Knoxville homes exposed to humidity, heavy rain, heat, and daily use. The surface is the last thing we think about, not the first.
The ledger board traps water when flashing and siding details are wrong. By the time a board feels soft, the damage is often already in the framing or the wall behind the deck.
The ledger connection is failing — the most dangerous problem on this list.
Soft at the base where the post meets concrete or ground contact.
Surface decking that flexes underfoot, usually a sign of what is below.
Rail posts that were never anchored to the framing correctly.
Stringers pulling loose, uneven risers, and treads without proper support.
No Z-flashing behind the siding, so water sits against the ledger board.

Knoxville homes often fail at the ledger board. Once moisture gets behind the siding, it can become water behind siding repair or rotted siding repair.
We check the ledger board, joists, beams, posts, stair framing, rail support, and the wall connection.
We do not cover unsafe framing with new boards just to make the deck look finished.
If rot, damaged framing, ledger failure, or moisture damage is found, we document it with photos and explain the next step. A written Change Order is issued before extra work continues.
Not hide weak framing under new boards. Which one you need depends entirely on what the structure is doing, not on how the surface looks.

An aging deck with no safe access to the concrete area below.
A new pressure-treated deck with proper framing, a connecting ramp, landing, and code-appropriate railings — anchored securely to the existing concrete.
A structurally sound deck and ramp built for daily use and East Tennessee weather.
Deck cost depends on size, material, railing, stairs, access, and the condition of the existing structure. These ranges reflect real East Tennessee projects.
| Deck Service | Typical Range |
|---|---|
| Small deck repair | $850 – $3,500 |
| Deck board replacement | $1,500 – $6,500 |
| Deck resurfacing / re-skin | $3,500 – $9,500 |
| Structural deck repair | $2,500 – $12,000+ |
| Wood deck replacement | $8,500 – $28,000+ |
| Composite deck replacement | $12,000 – $45,000+ |
Covers complex inspections that need deeper review — framing analysis, moisture checks, and ledger inspection. If the project moves forward, it is credited back in full.
📞 (865) 243-1243A new deck is a real investment, and paying for all of it up front is not always the right move. Financing is available through our lending partner, so you can spread the cost over time and still have the work done right the first time.
Applications are reviewed by the lender. Approval, terms, and rates are set by them, not by us.
We work with pressure-treated wood, composite decking, railings, and deck upgrades. Either surface performs well — but only when what is underneath was built right.
If the wall behind the deck has moisture damage, water behind siding repair may need to be handled first.
Works well when framing, flashing, and drainage are handled correctly. Lower material cost, more upkeep over time.
A cleaner surface with far less maintenance — but the structure underneath still has to be built right.
Rail posts anchored into framing, not just fastened to the rim. Stairs, landings, and access built to code.
Cheap decks skip the hidden details. Knoxville rain and humidity expose bad framing fast — usually within two seasons.
Undersized or set without proper footings and ground clearance.
Wrong hardware for exterior use, corroding within a couple of seasons.
No Z-flashing behind the siding, so water sits directly against the ledger.
Nailed instead of bolted, or fastened into siding rather than framing.
Drainage never addressed, so the same failure comes back every rainy season.
Deck ledger board repair is usually the first thing we check.
📞 (865) 243-1243Local weather matters here. Humidity, rain, heat, and seasonal movement put real pressure on deck framing — and we see the same failures repeat across these communities.
Deck cost depends on size, material, railing, stairs, access, and the condition of the old structure. If the old frame is unsafe, deck replacement is usually the better long-term option.
Yes, if the structure is still solid. Surface boards, railings, stairs, and small damaged areas can often be handled through deck repair in Knoxville TN.
A deeper inspection for complex deck problems — framing review, moisture checks, ledger inspection, and repair planning. The $350 is credited back if the project moves forward.
Yes. We inspect for rot, weak framing, loose railings, post failure, stair movement, and ledger problems. When a deck pulls away from the home, ledger board repair is one of the first things we check.
Yes. Bad flashing lets water move behind the siding near the ledger board. That can lead to rotted siding repair if the wall has been wet too long.
Yes. MI Homesiding & Roofing is a Licensed General Contractor in Tennessee — BBB Accredited, Family Operated, and fully insured.
Soft, bouncy, loose, rotted, or unsafe? Do not wait. Small deck problems do not stay small. They spread into the siding, the wall, the framing, and eventually the interior of the home.
