At MI Homesiding & Roofing, we don’t just build exteriors — we build trust through transparency and technical expertise. We are a family-run business in Knoxville, TN, dedicated to providing homeowners with professional siding, roofing, gutters, and exterior remodeling services.

I started in construction in 2004 as a furniture carpenter and cabinetmaker. I learned the trade on a lathe and a table saw, building doors, flooring and tongue and groove long before I ever worked on the outside of a house. Interior remodeling came next, and then the exterior: siding, roofing, gutters, decks, windows and fences, in both installation and repair.

Siding was my first job as a contractor. I saw there was room in Knoxville for a siding company that answered the phone and finished what it started, so I began with small siding repairs for homeowners here and built from there.

Carpentry is the reason I look at a house as one connected exterior instead of a list of separate trades. Where a window, a wall and a roof edge all meet in the same corner, the detail that fails is usually the one nobody planned for. That is what I want to find before we give you a number, not after the work has started.

In late 2025 I made a decision that changed how this company runs. I stopped handing off the parts of the business that affect your project the most. I did not do it because I had everything figured out. I did it because I had to take responsibility for the business, the workmanship, and the experience our customers receive.

We had him out because we needed to figure out how to fix a roof leak where the flashing wasn't done right (and part of the siding was also not right). He did a thorough inspection and explained to me what issues he saw. His quote was similar to the other we got.

We ended up having him put on a new roof, with a new under shingle ventilation system and a roof vent. He also corrected siding issues (and flashing), fixed some rotten trim, and repainted part of the siding and trim. Everything looks great! His crews were very nice.

Of all the contractors we've worked with on various renovations, Mel was easily one of the best at quickly responding when we had a question or saw an issue we wanted handled differently. We'll definitely hire him again if we need roof or siding work!
