Mel was so easy to work with. We had him out because we needed to figure out how to fix a roof leak where the flashing wasn't done right (and part of the siding was also not right). He did a thorough inspection and explained to me what issues he saw. His quote was similar to the other we got. We ended up having him put on a new roof, with a new under shingle ventilation system and a roof vent. He also corrected siding issues (and flashing), fixed some rotten trim, and repainted part of the siding and trim. Everything looks great! His crews were very nice. Of all the contractors we've worked with on various renovations, Mel was easily one of the best at quickly responding when we had a question or saw an issue we wanted handled differently. We'll definitely hire him again if we need roof or siding work!

Mel and his team were extremely thorough in identifying and correcting a water leakage problem from the top of our deck into the enclosed sun room below. They were both professional and courteous and provided great follow up after the job was completed. I highly recommend MI Homesiding & Roofing for any problem that involves water leakage into your home. I will definitely use MI in the future.

Highly recommend MI Homesiding! They completed a major home exterior project for us including replacing and painting our siding as well as replacing our roofing and gutters. They did an excellent job and we began getting compliments immediately from our neighbors about it! Mel was very communicative and proactive, listened to our questions and ideas, and took care of things in a timely manner. His team was always professional and the work is just superb! We not only recommend MI Homesiding, we will be using them again for future projects ourselves.

I found MI Homesiding & Roofing through their YouTube channel and called with a few questions about siding. Even though I’m not located in Tennessee and wouldn’t be hiring them directly, they answered the phone right away and took the time to answer every question in detail. They provided specific, helpful information and even assisted me in finding a contractor in my area. It’s rare to find a company so willing to help someone who isn’t even a local customer. Awesome people, excellent service, and truly knowledgeable. Thank you so much!

    How we price gutters

One rate, measured on your house.

Most gutter pricing arrives as a range wide enough to mean nothing. Ours is a single published rate applied to footage we measure on site, so the quote you get is the arithmetic you can already do here.

    01

    We measure, not estimate

Every roof edge and downspout run is measured on site. No pacing the driveway, no rounding up to the next ten feet.

    02

    Elbows are counted honestly

Each elbow is billed as one linear foot at the same rate. You can count them yourself and check the number.

    03

    Conditions are quoted separately

Fascia repair, guards, and cleaning are their own line items. They are never folded into the per-foot rate.

    Current MI rates

What we charge by the foot.

    What we measurePrice
    Gutter$15.25 / linear ft
    Downspout$15.25 / linear ft
Each elbowCounts as 1 linear ft

Gutter guards, gutter cleaning, and fascia replacement are priced separately once we have seen the house. We do not publish a figure for work we have not measured.

Every elbow on a downspout run is measured and billed as one linear foot.
    What moves your total

Why two houses on one street price differently.

Total measured footageThe single biggest factor. Longer rooflines and more downspout runs mean more feet.
Downspout and elbow countA roof that needs more outlets needs more downspout and more elbows, and both are measured feet.
System layoutCorners, valleys, and multi-level rooflines change how many runs and outlets the system takes.
AccessTwo-story runs, steep ground, and tight side yards change how the crew has to work.
What is behind the old gutterFascia condition is not visible until the old run comes off. If it needs work, that is quoted before we continue.
    Repair or replace

Replacing the whole system is not always the cheaper answer.

    Repair is often enough

Water spilling at one spot is usually pitch, a clog, or an outlet in the wrong place. Re-hanging a section or adding a downspout can solve it without touching the rest of the system.

    Replacement earns its cost

When the runs are undersized for the roof, the fascia behind them is failing, or repairs have already been made more than once, new gutters stop paying for the same problem twice.

We tell you which one your system needs after we have looked at it. We do not quote a replacement for a problem a repair would fix. For the full decision guide, see gutter replacement or gutter repair.

    5-inch vs 6-inch

Size is a drainage decision, not a price tier.

Both are standard residential K-style sizes. Which one your house needs comes from how much roof drains into each run, the roof pitch, and how many downspouts the system has — not from a budget bracket. For the full comparison, see seamless gutter installation.

Our per-foot rate is published aboveWe price gutter by the measured linear foot. Any difference in your total comes from footage and the number of outlets, not from a separate rate card per size.
Bigger is not automatically betterA larger profile on a roof that drains fine already adds cost without solving anything.
Sometimes the fix is an outlet, not a sizeAdding a downspout can resolve overflow that a larger gutter would not.
    Estimates and minimums

What an estimate costs, and the smallest job we take.

    $350
    Technical Assessment

On-site estimates are free for standard projects. For complex inspections — active leaks, previous repair work, or conditions we cannot verify from the ground — we charge $350, credited back in full if you move forward.

    $790
    Minimum job size

A short run of gutter or a single downspout can price out below this at the per-foot rate. One trip covering the visit, materials, and labor starts at $790.

Structural integrity & hidden damage policy

Damaged fascia gets addressed in a written Change Order before new gutters go up over it.

New gutters hung on rotted fascia will pull loose again, usually within a season and usually taking more of the board with them. So we do not do it. What is behind the old run is the one cost nobody can quote from the ground.

If rotted fascia, soffit damage, or hidden water intrusion is found during the project, we stop, document it with photos, explain what we found, and issue a written Change Order before work continues.

The rates on this page apply across the area we serve. Wherever your home is, the estimate works the same way: we measure the gutter and downspout footage on site, count the elbows, and give you the written price before any work begins.

    Gutter cost questions

    Frequently asked questions

How much do gutters cost in Knoxville?

Gutter is $15.25 per linear foot and downspout is the same rate, with each elbow counted as one linear foot. Your total is that rate times the footage we measure on site. Minimum job size is $790 when a site visit is required.

Does a downspout cost more than gutter?

No. Downspout is the same $15.25 per linear foot as gutter. Each elbow is billed as one linear foot at that rate, so a downspout with three elbows adds three feet to the measurement.

How do you measure for a gutter quote?

We measure every roof edge that carries a gutter, measure each downspout run from the gutter to the discharge point, and count the elbows. Nothing is paced out or rounded up, and the measurements are on the estimate.

Do 6-inch gutters cost more than 5-inch?

We publish one per-foot rate for gutter. Which size your house needs is a drainage decision based on roof area, pitch, and downspout count. We measure on site and tell you which size the roof actually calls for.

    Is the estimate free?

On-site estimates are free for standard projects. For complex inspections such as active leaks, previous repair work, or conditions we cannot verify from the ground, we charge a $350 Technical Assessment, credited back in full if you move forward.

What if there is rot behind my old gutters?

We stop and document it with photos, explain what we found and why it matters, then issue a written Change Order before continuing. Rotted fascia gets addressed before new gutters go up over it, and a known problem does not get absorbed silently into the finish — it goes into a written Change Order you approve.
