MI Homesiding & Roofing
Adding an outlet, moving one that discharges in the wrong place, or replacing a run that has been patched one time too many. Measured on site, priced by the foot.
A gutter drains only as fast as its outlets let it.
If water spills over the same stretch every time it rains hard, the run is usually collecting more than its single downspout can clear. Adding a relief outlet gives that water somewhere to go. It is a smaller job than replacing the gutter, and on a lot of houses it is the correct one.
We measure the run, look at how much roof feeds it, and tell you whether another outlet is the answer — or whether what you actually have is a blockage, a damaged downspout, or a discharge problem.

Mel was so easy to work with. We had him out because we needed to figure out how to fix a roof leak where the flashing wasn't done right (and part of the siding was also not right). He did a thorough inspection and explained to me what issues he saw. His quote was similar to the other we got. We ended up having him put on a new roof, with a new under shingle ventilation system and a roof vent. He also corrected siding issues (and flashing), fixed some rotten trim, and repainted part of the siding and trim. Everything looks great! His crews were very nice. Of all the contractors we've worked with on various renovations, Mel was easily one of the best at quickly responding when we had a question or saw an issue we wanted handled differently. We'll definitely hire him again if we need roof or siding work!Posted on Google![]()

Mel and his team were extremely thorough in identifying and correcting a water leakage problem from the top of our deck into the enclosed sun room below. They were both professional and courteous and provided great follow up after the job was completed. I highly recommend MI Homesiding & Roofing for any problem that involves water leakage into your home. I will definitely use MI in the future.Posted on Google![]()

Highly recommend MI Homesiding! They completed a major home exterior project for us including replacing and painting our siding as well as replacing our roofing and gutters. They did an excellent job and we began getting compliments immediately from our neighbors about it! Mel was very communicative and proactive, listened to our questions and ideas, and took care of things in a timely manner. His team was always professional and the work is just superb! We not only recommend MI Homesiding, we will be using them again for future projects ourselves.Posted on Google![]()

I found MI Homesiding & Roofing through their YouTube channel and called with a few questions about siding. Even though I’m not located in Tennessee and wouldn’t be hiring them directly, they answered the phone right away and took the time to answer every question in detail. They provided specific, helpful information and even assisted me in finding a contractor in my area. It’s rare to find a company so willing to help someone who isn’t even a local customer. Awesome people, excellent service, and truly knowledgeable. Thank you so much!Posted on Google![]()

Placement is decided on the house, not from a rule of thumb. What we look at:
We do not publish a spacing rule or a fixed number of downspouts per roof. The honest answer comes from the measurements.

A downspout is a path, not a pipe on a wall. It starts at the outlet cut into the gutter, turns back to the wall through an elbow, runs down, and turns again at the bottom to release the water.
Every one of those turns is an elbow, and every elbow is a place water changes direction and slows down. That is why we count them — and why we bill each one as a linear foot rather than hiding it in a vague allowance.
Where the water goes after that last elbow is its own subject. If the system is sound but water still ends up against the house, see downspout drainage and discharge correction.
Downspout is priced by the linear foot, the same rate as gutter, and each elbow counts as one linear foot. Your total comes from the footage we measure on site and how many elbows the run actually needs.
| What we measure | Price |
|---|---|
| Downspout | $15.25 / linear ft |
| Each elbow | Counts as 1 linear ft |
| Technical Assessment | $350, credited back in full if you move forward |
| Minimum job size | $790 when a site visit is required |
On-site estimates are free for standard projects. See the full gutter cost page and ballpark estimator for the complete breakdown.
A downspout is only as secure as the fascia and the wall it is fastened to, so we look behind the old one before we hang the new one.
If rotted fascia, soffit damage or hidden water intrusion turns up once we have access, we stop, document it with photos, explain what we found, and issue a written Change Order before any further work.

When one run is carrying more water than its single outlet can clear, which usually shows up as water spilling over the same stretch in every storm. Adding a relief downspout balances the load and often solves overflow that a larger gutter would not.
Yes. Relocating an outlet is common when water is discharging onto a walkway, a patio, a flower bed, or right beside the house. We look at where the water needs to end up before deciding where the downspout should come down.
Yes. When a run is crushed, corroded or has been patched repeatedly, replacing the full run from the gutter outlet to the discharge point is usually more reliable than another repair.

Yes. On a new build we can plan the outlets from the roof plan and the gutter runs, so the downspouts land where the finished grading and hardscape need them rather than wherever is convenient.
