Mel was so easy to work with. We had him out because we needed to figure out how to fix a roof leak where the flashing wasn't done right (and part of the siding was also not right). He did a thorough inspection and explained to me what issues he saw. His quote was similar to the other we got. We ended up having him put on a new roof, with a new under shingle ventilation system and a roof vent. He also corrected siding issues (and flashing), fixed some rotten trim, and repainted part of the siding and trim. Everything looks great! His crews were very nice. Of all the contractors we've worked with on various renovations, Mel was easily one of the best at quickly responding when we had a question or saw an issue we wanted handled differently. We'll definitely hire him again if we need roof or siding work!

Mel and his team were extremely thorough in identifying and correcting a water leakage problem from the top of our deck into the enclosed sun room below. They were both professional and courteous and provided great follow up after the job was completed. I highly recommend MI Homesiding & Roofing for any problem that involves water leakage into your home. I will definitely use MI in the future.

Highly recommend MI Homesiding! They completed a major home exterior project for us including replacing and painting our siding as well as replacing our roofing and gutters. They did an excellent job and we began getting compliments immediately from our neighbors about it! Mel was very communicative and proactive, listened to our questions and ideas, and took care of things in a timely manner. His team was always professional and the work is just superb! We not only recommend MI Homesiding, we will be using them again for future projects ourselves.

I found MI Homesiding & Roofing through their YouTube channel and called with a few questions about siding. Even though I’m not located in Tennessee and wouldn’t be hiring them directly, they answered the phone right away and took the time to answer every question in detail. They provided specific, helpful information and even assisted me in finding a contractor in my area. It’s rare to find a company so willing to help someone who isn’t even a local customer. Awesome people, excellent service, and truly knowledgeable. Thank you so much!

Old gutters can fail quietly before the damage becomes obvious. Leaks, sagging sections, bad pitch, rust, loose hangers, and water spilling near the foundation are signs the system may no longer protect the home. MI Homesiding & Roofing provides gutter replacement in Knoxville TN for homeowners who need a complete system, not another short-term patch.

We Do What We Say. We replace gutter systems with a focus on water control, fascia protection, correct downspout placement, and long-term structural integrity. A new gutter system should move water away from the roofline, siding, crawl space, landscaping, and foundation without creating new problems.

Gutter Replacement for Knoxville Homes

Knoxville homes deal with heavy rain, humidity, leaves, and storm runoff that can wear down old gutters over time. When a gutter system is leaking, pulling away, overflowing, or holding water, repair may not be enough. Replacement gives the home a fresh drainage system built around the roofline, fascia condition, water volume, and downspout locations. The goal is not just new gutters. The goal is a system that moves water correctly.

When Repairs Are Not Enough

Some gutters are too damaged or poorly installed to keep repairing. If the same corners keep leaking, the gutter sags after every storm, or water keeps running behind the fascia, replacement may be the better option. Old sectional gutters with many seams can also fail repeatedly. We inspect the full system before recommending replacement, because a good contractor should know when a repair makes sense and when it only delays the same problem.

Replacing Undersized or Poorly Pitched Gutters

A gutter can look fine and still fail if it is too small for the roof area or pitched the wrong way. During heavy Knoxville rain, undersized gutters can overflow before water reaches the downspout. Poor pitch can leave standing water inside the gutter and add weight to the fascia. When we replace gutters, we review the LF of each run, roof valleys, water load, and downspout placement so the new system drains correctly.

Downspout Planning and Drainage Correction

Gutter replacement is not complete without proper downspout planning. If the downspouts are too small, too few, or placed in the wrong areas, water can still collect near the foundation. We look at where the water exits, how the yard slopes, and whether the current discharge points are creating moisture issues. A complete gutter replacement should move water away from the home, not just off the roof.

Structural Integrity & Discovery of Hidden Damage

  1. 01
Gutter replacement may reveal hidden rot, weak fascia, damaged sheathing, failed flashing, or structural issues near the roofline. These problems are often covered by old gutters, paint, trim, or siding and may not be visible until inspection or removal begins. MI Homesiding & Roofing does not cover hidden damage with a new gutter system. Any weak or damaged area must be corrected before the final gutter replacement is installed so the system can hold properly and protect the home.

Repair or replace? The honest answer is usually repair.

Most calls we get about failing gutters turn out to be one bad spot, not a failed system.

Water spilling over the same section in every storm is normally pitch, a clog, or an outlet in the wrong place. Those are repairs. Replacement earns its cost when the problem is the system itself rather than one part of it — and we would rather tell you that after looking than quote a replacement for something a repair would fix.

Localized damage, or the whole system?

Sagging and alignment
A dip in one bay is usually a hanger or the board behind it. A run that has dropped along its whole length has lost its pitch, and re-hanging it rarely holds.
Leaking joints
One weeping corner can be resealed. Several joints opening across different elevations usually means the sealant has reached the end of its life everywhere at once.
Repeated failures
If the same stretch has been repaired more than once, the repair is treating a symptom. At that point replacement stops you paying for the same problem again.
  • Fascia and substrate conditionGutters are only as sound as the board holding them. Soft or rotted fascia has to be addressed first — that is true whether we repair or replace.
  • Undersized for the roofIf the runs were never sized for the area draining into them, they will keep overflowing no matter how well they are hung. That is a replacement conversation.
  • Drainage and discharge problemsWater pooling at the house when the gutters themselves are sound is an outlet and discharge issue. See downspout and drainage correction — it often does not need a new system at all.

What a replacement looks like on site

The old system comes off first, which is the only moment anyone can see the fascia behind it. New runs are formed to length on site, hung to the pitch we set, and the outlets are tested before we leave.

What is behind the old gutter is the one cost nobody can quote from the ground.

If we find rot, soffit damage or hidden water intrusion once the run is off, we stop, document it with photos, explain what it means, and issue a written Change Order before continuing. Nothing gets closed up over a known problem.

What replacement costs, and what stands behind it

Gutter and downspout are priced by the measured linear foot, and each elbow counts as one linear foot.

Your total comes from the footage we measure on site, how many downspouts and elbows the roof needs, and the fascia condition behind the old run. See the current rate and the ballpark estimator.

5-Year Workmanship Warranty
on a full gutter replacement.

Gutter repairs carry a 1-Year Workmanship Warranty. Both are subject to the signed agreement and the scope of work defined in it.

FAQs About Gutter Replacement

How do I know if I need gutter replacement?

You may need replacement if your gutters leak often, sag, overflow, pull away from the home, or keep causing water damage after repairs.

Is gutter replacement better than gutter repair?

Replacement is better when the gutter system is old, undersized, badly pitched, storm damaged, or failing in several areas.

Can new gutters help protect my foundation?

Yes. New gutters with proper pitch and downspouts can move water away from the foundation and reduce drainage problems.

Do you check fascia before replacing gutters?

Yes. We check the fascia because new gutters need a solid surface to hold properly.

Do you provide gutter replacement near me?

Yes. We replace gutters in Knoxville, Halls, Powell, Maryville, Farragut, Oak Ridge, Alcoa, and nearby East Tennessee areas.

Call MI Homesiding & Roofing for gutter replacement in Knoxville TN. We will inspect your old gutters, fascia, downspouts, roofline, and drainage path so your home gets a complete replacement system built for long-term protection.

What warranty comes with a full gutter replacement?
