Downspout letting go right at the foundation? Water tracking back along the wall instead of leaving the house?
Seamless gutters, downspouts, repairs and leaf protection across Clinton — sized to the roof that drains into them, and discharged somewhere the ground can actually take it.
Most gutter calls in Clinton are really about the last six feet of the system, not the first forty.
Clinton sits in the Clinch River valley, and a lot of ground here falls — toward the river, toward a ditch, toward the street. On a lot that falls, a downspout that stops at the corner of the house does not send water away. It puts it on the high side of a slope that runs straight back along the footing, and the foundation gets a concentrated stream every time it rains instead of the spread-out drip it was designed for.
That is why we treat the discharge point as part of the job rather than an afterthought. Where the elbow turns, how far the extension runs, and whether the ground at the end of it falls away from the house or back toward it — those decide whether the gutter actually did anything.
The same applies to the wall. A downspout strapped tight to the cladding with the outlet dribbling behind it will stain and soften the wall long before anybody blames the gutters.
Where the ground will not take it at all, the run has to be carried further out or put underground. We cover that on our downspout and drainage page.

Mel was so easy to work with. We had him out because we needed to figure out how to fix a roof leak where the flashing wasn't done right (and part of the siding was also not right). He did a thorough inspection and explained to me what issues he saw. His quote was similar to the other we got. We ended up having him put on a new roof, with a new under shingle ventilation system and a roof vent. He also corrected siding issues (and flashing), fixed some rotten trim, and repainted part of the siding and trim. Everything looks great! His crews were very nice. Of all the contractors we've worked with on various renovations, Mel was easily one of the best at quickly responding when we had a question or saw an issue we wanted handled differently. We'll definitely hire him again if we need roof or siding work!Posted on Google![]()

Mel and his team were extremely thorough in identifying and correcting a water leakage problem from the top of our deck into the enclosed sun room below. They were both professional and courteous and provided great follow up after the job was completed. I highly recommend MI Homesiding & Roofing for any problem that involves water leakage into your home. I will definitely use MI in the future.Posted on Google![]()

Highly recommend MI Homesiding! They completed a major home exterior project for us including replacing and painting our siding as well as replacing our roofing and gutters. They did an excellent job and we began getting compliments immediately from our neighbors about it! Mel was very communicative and proactive, listened to our questions and ideas, and took care of things in a timely manner. His team was always professional and the work is just superb! We not only recommend MI Homesiding, we will be using them again for future projects ourselves.Posted on Google![]()

I found MI Homesiding & Roofing through their YouTube channel and called with a few questions about siding. Even though I’m not located in Tennessee and wouldn’t be hiring them directly, they answered the phone right away and took the time to answer every question in detail. They provided specific, helpful information and even assisted me in finding a contractor in my area. It’s rare to find a company so willing to help someone who isn’t even a local customer. Awesome people, excellent service, and truly knowledgeable. Thank you so much!Posted on Google![]()

Our Own Warranty on the Work
Five years on a complete replacement and one year on a repair, covering how it was installed — our labor and our details.
A trough can only carry what reaches it, and what reaches it is set by the roof above. Before anybody talks about five inch or six inch, four things have to be measured:
There is no universal answer and we do not quote the wider trough to everyone. Six inch with larger outlets earns its place where a big or steep area funnels into one run, or where the run is long and the outlets are few. A great many Clinton houses are well served by five inch with the outlets put where the water is. The contributing roof area settles it.
Hung too low, a gutter misses the front edge of a fast sheet of water. Hung too high, it can take rain in behind it. The drip edge has to land inside the trough, and where a roof meets a wall the kick-out has to throw water out over the gutter rather than down behind the cladding.
Not every gutter problem is a replacement, and we will say so when it is not.
A seam that has opened, a length that has pulled away from the fascia, an outlet that has worked loose, a dented section, a downspout that has come off its straps. The rest of the run is sound and the geometry was right to begin with.
The material is fine but the fall is wrong, or the hangers are too far apart and the trough sags between them. Taking it down and re-hanging it to the correct fall costs less than new gutter and fixes the actual fault.
The run is sectional and the joints keep opening, the trough is undersized for the roof above it, or the metal has been patched enough times that there is nothing left to fasten to.
If we find rot in the fascia once the old gutter is off, it gets photographed and written into a Change Order with a price before anything else happens. It does not get covered over by the new run.
Seamless does not mean there are no joints anywhere — corners and outlets are still joints. It means the straight run between them is one continuous piece of metal.
The coil goes through a forming machine in the van on your driveway and comes out at the length of that elevation. Nothing is cut and lapped in the middle, which matters because a lapped joint sits in standing water every time it rains and is the first thing on a gutter to fail.
Sectional gutter from a box store is the opposite trade: easy to carry, joints every ten feet, and a sealant line at each one that is on a clock from the day it is installed.

A gutter is only as well attached as the board behind it. The hanger screws into the fascia, and a full trough in a downpour is heavy, so soft wood simply lets go.
Before we quote a run we check that board. If it is sound, the new gutter goes straight on it. If a section has gone soft — usually where the old gutter has been overflowing behind itself for years — that length gets replaced first, and it is quoted as its own line so you can see what you are paying for.
It is also why a cheap gutter price can turn into a bigger number later. Hanging new metal on a rotten board buys a year or two, and then the same run comes away with the board still attached to it.
If the fascia is the main problem rather than the gutter, that is a different job: see our soffit and fascia repair page.
A guard reduces how often somebody has to get up and clear the trough. That is a real benefit, and on a wooded Clinton lot it is often worth paying for. It is not a capacity upgrade.
So we look at the tree cover over that particular roof and at the sizing first, then say whether protection is worth adding here. The options are set out on our gutter guard installation page.
If the trough just needs clearing rather than covering, that is a service we do ourselves — see gutter cleaning.
Gutter work is priced by the linear foot, measured around your actual roofline rather than taken off a floor plan. These are our published Selling Prices:
| Item | Selling Price |
|---|---|
| Seamless gutter | $15.25 per linear foot |
| Downspout | $15.25 per linear foot |
| Each elbow | Counted as 1 linear foot |
| Technical Assessment | $350, credited back in full |
One rate, not a menu. The same figure applies whatever the trough width, so choosing six inch where the roof calls for it is not priced as an upgrade and five inch is not sold as a saving. The width follows the roof. Elbows are counted as a foot each rather than billed as separate fittings.
Quoted separately, because they depend on what is there: leaf protection, repairs to an existing run, fascia replacement where the board has gone soft, and cleaning. We do not publish a number for those, because the number comes from your roofline rather than an average of somebody else’s.
On-site estimates are free for standard gutter work. The $350 Technical Assessment applies to complex inspections — active water damage, previous repair work, or conditions we cannot verify from the ground — and is credited back in full if you move forward.
Gutters are a smaller job than a roof, and they are often the part that gets trimmed to make a bigger number work. Financing runs through our lending partner so the outlets, the downspout count and any fascia work get done properly rather than cut back to fit cash on hand.
Applications are reviewed by the lender. Approval, terms, and rates are set by them, not by us.
Real MI projects from across our East Tennessee service area. The photographs are of our own work, and we do not label a photo with a town unless we can verify where it was taken.

Set so the water runs to the outlets instead of standing in the trough, with the drip edge landing inside the gutter.

An upper run has to let go somewhere the lower run can take it, rather than dumping onto shingles or over the edge.

Mesh fitted into the trough on a wooded lot. It cuts the clearing out; it does not make the gutter bigger.
That is nearly always capacity rather than a blockage: too much roof draining into one run, or too few outlets for the water arriving. Cleaning will not change it and a guard will not change it. The answer is in the outlet count or the trough size, which is why the contributing roof area gets measured first.
Look at where the downspout lets go. On a lot that falls, an extension that stops at the corner of the house puts water on the high side of the slope and it runs straight back along the footing. Moving the discharge point, or running the extension further, often fixes it without touching the gutters at all.
Maybe, and maybe not. Six inch with larger outlets earns its place where a large or steep roof area concentrates into one run, or where the run is long and the outlets are few. Plenty of Clinton homes do well on five inch with the outlets in the right places. The roof above settles it, not a preference for the wider trough.
Seamless gutter and downspout are $15.25 per linear foot, with each elbow counted as a foot. The total comes from the linear feet measured around your roofline and the number of downspouts the roof needs. Leaf protection, repairs, fascia replacement and cleaning are quoted separately, because they depend on what we find.
It gets replaced before the new run goes up, because a hanger screwed into soft wood has nothing to hold. If we only find it once the old gutter is off, it is documented with photographs and priced in a written Change Order before the work carries on.
Replacing gutters on an existing house is normally maintenance rather than permitted work. Where a job turns into fascia or structural repair it can be a different matter, and whether it goes through the City of Clinton or through Anderson County depends on whether the address sits inside the city limits. We confirm what your address requires before the proposal goes out.
Our workmanship warranty covers how the system was installed — the hanger spacing, the fall, the outlet locations and the sealed joints. It runs one year on a repair and five years on a complete replacement. The gutter material carries its own manufacturer coverage, which is separate from our labor.
We install, repair and replace gutters across Clinton — the older streets in South Clinton near the river, the newer subdivisions out along the ridges, and the properties on Anderson County roads between them — and in the communities next door: Norris, Oak Ridge, Powell and Halls Crossroads, with broader exterior remodeling across Knoxville and East Tennessee.
Working on more than the gutters? Our Clinton exterior contractor page covers the whole exterior, and there are dedicated pages for roofing in Clinton and siding in Clinton. For how the system works in general, see our gutter services page.
If the gutters are running over, sagging between the hangers, letting go at the seams, or putting water where the foundation is, we will measure the roof that drains into them and tell you plainly what it needs. On-site estimates are free for standard gutter work.
